Located inside the historic Bhadra Fort, this ancient temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali, the revered “Nagar Devi” or guardian deity who has protected Ahmedabad since its founding. The temple is famous for its black stone idol and the unique tradition where the goddess’s “Vahana” (vehicle) is changed daily, featuring various mounts like the lion, elephant, and lotus.

Built in the 11th century by the Solanki dynasty, this architectural masterpiece is designed so that the first rays of the sun illuminate the sanctum during the equinoxes. The temple complex features the stunning Surya Kund stepwell with 108 miniature shrines and an assembly hall supported by 52 intricately carved pillars representing the weeks of the year.

Established in 1822, this is the first temple of the Swaminarayan Sampraday and is renowned for its vibrant, multi-colored Burmese teak wood carvings and stunning Indo-Saracenic architecture. Located in the historic old city, it serves as the starting point for the famous Ahmedabad Heritage Walk and houses the headquarters of the NarNarayan Dev Gadi.

Built in 1848 by a wealthy merchant, the Hutheesing Jain Temple is an architectural masterpiece crafted entirely from white marble and dedicated to Lord Dharmanatha, the 15th Jain Tirthankara. It is renowned for its 52 intricate secondary shrines, stunning “Tree of Life” style carvings, and a 78-foot tall Manastambha (Tower of Honor) that overlooks a serene, polished courtyard.

Located in the twin city of Gandhinagar, the Akshardham Temple is a magnificent 23-acre spiritual complex built from 6,000 tonnes of intricately carved pink sandstone without the use of any steel. It serves as a major cultural hub featuring a majestic seven-foot gold-leafed idol of Lord Swaminarayan, beautifully landscaped gardens, and the mesmerizing Sahaj Anand water show.
