During the ongoing ₹1,200-crore Sabarmati Ashram restoration project, workers recently made a “surprise discovery” of a buried 1.5-foot-high plinth and two original stone steps leading to the Vinoba-Mira Kutir. These historic elements had been hidden under the ground for decades, and their discovery allows conservationists to restore the cottage to its original architectural elevation as it was when Acharya Vinoba Bhave lived there in 1918.
